I am an out-of-network provider, meaning I do not take insurance. Insurance companies have the right to access your therapy notes and determine how many sessions they will allow us. They can decide to no longer cover sessions based on their interpretation of your progress. Insurance companies also require me to give you a diagnosis for billing purposes and that diagnosis becomes a part of your health record. Choosing to work with a private pay therapist allows you enhanced privacy, increased flexibility, and a customized treatment approach. I can provide superbills, which are customized invoices for potential insurance reimbursement.

Some insurance plans offer potential reimbursement for out-of-network mental health providers, covering a certain percentage of the costs. To explore this option for your plan, consider reaching out to your insurance provider and asking the following questions:
Do I have a mental or behavioral health policy with out-of-network benefits?
What is the coverage amount/percentage per therapy session?
What is my responsibility/copay for each session?
You can ask about reimbursement for CPT code 90834?
Do I have an out-of-network deductible?
How much of my out-of-network deductible has been met?
What is the start date of the calendar year my out-of-network policy is based on?
